Michael Shahnasarian, Ph.D., founded Career Consultants of America, Inc., (CCA) on
May 20, 1986. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the practice
has since been providing services throughout North America
and worldwide. Integrity, application of state-of-the-art
science and best practices, and professionalism –
these ideals have hallmarked CCA’s aim to offer the
highest quality services the profession offers. Service,
research, and training have been the bedrock on which CCA
established its practice more than 30 years ago.

plaintiffs and defendants retain CCA to evaluate case
materials and/or individuals, and to testify, if necessary,
as an expert witness in court proceedings or other legal
forums.
Product Development − In accord with its practice
ideal, CCA has a longstanding tradition of product
development.
Research
CCA’s research initiatives have focused on
computer-assisted career guidance applications, assessment
of earning capacity, and forensic issues related to claims
of loss of earning capacity. Studies CCA conducted have been
published in numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters,
monographs, and books.
Data from the practice has had wide applications –
including development of a standardized instrument used
worldwide to evaluate claims of loss of earning capacity,
establishing normative criteria for making corporate
selection decisions, and the bases for a doctoral
dissertation. The Social Security Administration selected
CCA as one of four practices in the United States to
participate in a 2-year pilot test project (Project Network)
involving vocational and disability issues.
Training
As a training venue, CCA has facilitated interns’ and
residents’ development of administrative support,
clinical, and research knowledge and skills necessary to
advance their career development. Masters, doctoral, and
postdoctoral interns and residents have satisfied graduate
degree scholarship and clinical supervision requirements
necessary to pursue advanced credentialing (i.e., specialty
certifications and licensures) from their CCA experiences.
Students from Amherst University, Duke University, Florida State
University, Northern Illinois University, the University
of Florida, the University of South Florida, and the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have participated in CCA internships. CCA interns
have gone on to study at institutions such as Harvard
University, the London School of Economics, the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University,
and Vanderbilt University.
